MEET THE OWNER

I am a North Carolina native, dad of two amazing daughters (Maizie and Lylah), and a veteran of the ski industry. I started in the ski industry as a shop tech in 1999 and have worked in a few different capacities over the years from tune/repair tech, rentals, retail and equipment sales, and store GM. The mountains have always felt like home to me and I love the Appalachia lifestyle. During the rest of the year, I am a white water raft guide on a few of the spectacular rivers in the area and a local musician. My first time on the snow was right here in Boone at Appalachian Ski Mountain when I was 8 years old. Even though it is a small mountain, App will always be special to me and I love that my daughters learned to ski there too!

In college, I went to Lake Tahoe for spring break and I was hooked. I moved to South Lake Tahoe after graduation and spent 8 years in the Sierras. I had a lot of different jobs there, but I always kept a job tuning skis at one of the local shops and spent as many days on the mountain as I could. I made my way back to NC in 2015 and have been a part of the ski industry here each winter. After being out west so long, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much the ski industry in NC has grown. The overall experience has improved dramatically since I was a kid and the rental delivery business just seems like the perfect opportunity for the Boone area.

The Black Tie philosophy of bringing a personalized, professional ski rental fitting to the customer in the comfort of their accommodations, in order to provide them with gear that fits and works with them on the hill…all while eliminating the hassle and stress of the traditional rental experience… is something that this area needs. I am looking forward to being the FIRST ambassador for Black Tie on the East Coast and the opportunity to welcome so many more clients into the Black Tie family through the southeastern ski community. In the words of Ian Prichard, “once you’ve been fitted for a rental in the comfort of your accommodations by a Black Tie Ski Rentals location, it’s impossible to go back to the old way.”
