How does Ski Rental Delivery work?

Now that Black Tie Ski Rentals is celebrating our 14th year in operation it’s become obvious that having your equipment delivered is the preferred way of renting skis and snowboards when on vacation in South Lake Tahoe at Heavenly Ski Resort. We bring the ski shop to you and get you completely dialed in with your rental equipment right in the comfort of your own hotel room, condo or rental home. A lot of people still ask us how we do it. Let me start by saying that Black Tie was the first company in North America to offer this unique service. Since we began others have followed suit, but we are still always leading the way in improving ski rental delivery and creating a better product for our guests year over year. So….to answer the question…

1.) RESERVATION: You make a reservation by calling us at (775) 588-5800 or by visiting our website Black Tie Ski Rentals. For reservations made more than 2 days in advance we offer the best discounted rate; which is 20% off most of the time. Ideally we try to schedule fittings the evening before you plan to start skiing so that you can head straight to the lift in the morning without any delay. We’re open until 10 PM every night! We do take same day reservations, so if you’re already in town, give us a call and we can usually get over very quickly to get you set up. Certainly much faster than if you had to go stand in the long line at another rental shop. At the time of reservation, we will collect some pertinent information for each renter such as height, weight and shoe size. This allows us to prepare and pack what should be the perfect sizes for each renter.

2.) FITTING: We arrive on time at your vacation accommodation with all of the pre-selected equipment packed in our large rolling bags. If something doesn’t fit, our fully stocked van is parked right outside, so our tech can pop out and get additional sizes as needed. We also bring a small selection of retail items such as Smith goggles, Gordini gloves and Smartwool and Point 6 ski socks that are available for purchase to each fitting in case you need anything else. After you have been perfectly fitted by our ski concierge the equipment stays with you for the duration of the rental.

3.) SLOPESIDE SERVICE: Throughout your rental we are available in case you need anything! The beauty of being a mobile service is that we’ll come to you if you need any adjustments made to your ski or snowboard set-up. You simply phone us and we’ll quickly meet you at any of the base lodges at Heavenly to take care of it. This service is also available at Northstar at Tahoe Ski Resort through our North Lake Tahoe branch.

4.) EASY RETURN PICK-UP: When you’re done with the equipment, we come back and pick it all up! We can come back to your lodging accommodation or we can meet you at the base of Heavenly when you’re done. Just call us and we’ll coordinate with you to meet you whenever and wherever it’s most convenient for you. Many local hotels have ski valet storage, so if you’re staying at a property with one, just leave everything there and phone us to let us know it’s ready to be collected. This service is available at Northstar also; so if you start your vacation in South Lake and end it in North Lake (or vice versa) you can keep the equipment throughout your vacation and return it where you end your skiing.
