Vail Snow Daze 2014 (Weekend 1)

Vail’s annual Snow Daze event series definitely lived up to its name this year. Beaver Creek reported six inches of new snow on Sunday morning – with Vail reporting five. It has continued to snow all day today, so we imagine the storm total should be pretty significant. It feels good to get a fresh coat of white on the ground after a clear and relatively warm stretch of weather.

Kicking off Vail’s 2014 Snow Daze concert festivities were two bands who hit the stage in Solaris Plaza on Saturday night. First up was Lucas Nelson (son of Willy Nelson) and his band the Promise of the Real. Closing out the night for the first weekend were the Wallflowers. As is always the case, the energy was high all day Saturday – starting with the Red Bull DJ truck blasting music in the base area, and peaking when the snow started falling during the Wallflowers set. Take a look at some of the sights from Saturday around Vail, courtesy of their Facebook page.

If you missed out on this weekend’s fun (and snow), be sure to make your way to Vail next weekend, December 19-21. The action continues with Saturday concerts featuring 10,000 Maniacs and Rusted Root. Here’s hoping the snow keeps flying!
