3. Gondola Ride

Take the gondola to the top of Mount Werner where 360 degree mountain and valley views await. Hike or mountain bike on the newly updated terrain with options for all levels. Have a delicious lunch or snack at Hazie’s or Oasis Sundeck.

The Champagne Powder® that falls into winter melts into a wildly fun family adventure on the Yampa River in summer.

Tubing companies can take you for a completely unique inner-tube ride down the Yampa River that runs right through the heart of downtown: a laid-back but fun float with a few rapids and loads of laughs.

6. Hiking Trails

There’s a reason why hiking is a favorite summertime activity in Steamboat. You can visit iconic landmarks – like the Rabbits Ears on the namesake pass – via a vast network of hiking trails throughout the valley.

You can walk along bubbling creeks, scale and scramble rocky inclines and watch the expanse of the Yampa Valley open up before you from the top of the world.

7. Fly Fishing

Steamboat Springs is home to world class fishing. With seven miles of public fishing stretching through downtown, the Yampa River offers convenient access for phenomenal trout fishing.

Stop by a local fishing shop and check out the private water and guide options as well. Take a scenic drive to any of the three Colorado State Parks (Steamboat Lake, Stagecoach Reservoir, or Peal Lake) for more lake and river fishing.

8. Pro Rodeo Series

Add it to your “must do” weekend list in Steamboat Springs. The award-winning Pro Rodeo takes place every Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. from the third weekend in June through the third weekend in August. The kiddos can participate in the Calf or Ram Scramble.

9. Botanic Park

Open all summer and into the fall, this high altitude garden celebrates the trees, shrubs, plants and birds of the Yampa River Basin.

FREE admission. Located between downtown and the mountain – on US 40 turn west onto Trafalger Drive and follow the signs or access via the Yampa River Core Trail.
