Lake Tahoe Ski Lift Ticket Deals

So you want to know how you can save some of your hard earned money when planning a ski or snowboarding trip? We’ve searched high and low for the best deals to be found this winter at some of the more popular and at some of the lesser known ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area.

Heavenly Mountain Lift Tickets:

You’ll save a couple of bucks by purchasing Heavenly lift tickets at least 7 days in advance on their website. Click here for prices and information: Heavenly Lift Tickets.

Season Passes:

Locals know that the very best way to save money is to buy a season pass. There are many options available and most of them start at around $300 for the whole season. Yes, you heard right. $300 to ski a particular resort (or in some cases a combination of resorts) for as many days as you can pull off for the cost of only 3-5 days worth of lift tickets. Before you start shopping for lift tickets, inquire about season pass pricing because it may just work out better for you to go that route. Before you buy that season pass, however, pay attention to the “black-out” dates and make sure that they do not coincide with your planned vacation dates. If you plan well in advance, this is particularly helpful because many resorts begin offering passes for the following season as early as March or April and have a tiered pricing structure where you get the best deal on a pass in the spring and then prices increase as it gets closer to the season.

Lift Ticket Consolidator:

Check out the discount skiing website Liftopia for cheaper options than buying directly at the resort. This website is similar to Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotels.com, etc. but specializes in lift tickets, ski rentals and ski related activities. Like the aforementioned discount hotel and airfare websites, you can save a lot of money on your ticket but that savings comes with a very strict cancellation policy. You cannot make changes after your initial purchase and you will forfeit your payment if for any reason you are not able to get on the mountain on the day that you purchased the ticket for. Keep in mind that this is true in the case of bad weather also. If the mountain is open (turning even one single lift) you will not be able to get a refund or change the date for your ticket. But that aside, you can get some great deals at Sierra at Tahoe, Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose ski resorts; all of which are within 45 minutes of South Lake Tahoe.

Ski Lake Tahoe 6 Pack Deal:

Local ski marketing consortium, Ski Lake Tahoe, has come up with a special deal that offers you 6 lift tickets at their 7 member resorts (Alpine Meadows, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose, Northstar, and Sierra at Tahoe for about $400. Check out their 6-Pack Lift Ticket Deal here. Be sure to read the details of the options on this deal, because you are limited in how many days you can ski each particular resort. The goal of this package is to get you to sample all of the member ski resorts, so if you’re open to traveling around the lake and you want to check out much of the area’s ski offering this is a fantastic deal!

Multi-Day Lift Tickets:

Many of the resorts offer multi-day tickets that will save you money over the single day lift ticket price. Inquire as to whether the resort offers a 2-day ticket, a 3 out of 5 day ticket or a 5 out of 7 day ticket.

Ski the Lesser Known Resorts:

Have you heard of Sierra at Tahoe, Mt. Rose, Diamond Peak or Homewood ski resorts? They’re all here in Tahoe and they are all within 45 minutes of the South Shore. While they may not be as famous as Heavenly Ski Resort or Squaw Valley, they are a great alternative and they are much cheaper. Lift tickets at any of these resorts will run you about $60 per day versus the $100 plus that the big name resorts charge.
