Holiday 2016 Events in South Lake Tahoe

With the holiday season quickly approaching, we thought we’d put together a listing of some of our favorite local Christmas events. If you find yourself in South Tahoe this December, we highly recommend that you check out any or all of these!

  • The 5th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony – Meyers, CA: In addition to the ceremonial lighting of the giant Christmas tree right on the side of Highway 50, this fun, local event also has visits from the South Lake Tahoe fire department’s illuminated Christmas fire truck and local air ambulance company, Calstar, who fly Santa Claus into the event via helicopter. There’s plenty for kids of all ages to see and do! Takes place in the Divided Sky parking lot in downtown Meyers on Friday, December 4, 2016 5:00-8:00 PM. Meyers Community Foundation
  • Barton Festival of Trees and Lights – Montbleu Casino Resort in Stateline, NV: This multi-day holiday extravaganza features lavish holiday decor including trees and holiday wreaths that are voted upon by the attendees for the “best” holiday decoration. Head on over during one of the daily viewings, complete with a kids’ craft area, a children’s “Teddy Bear Hospital”, live entertainment and photos with Santa. Friday night is Family Night, Saturday evening there is an adult Gala Dinner event and on Sunday morning don’t miss taking your kids to the Teddy Bear Brunch. December 2 – 6, 2015. • Heavenly Holidays – Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe, CA: The gondola base area of Heavenly Ski Resort turns into a holiday wonderland with nightly visits from Santa Claus in his snow globe and ice carvings throughout the festive village. December 19-24, 2015.  Heavenly Village
