Dining in Whistler – Our Top Picks
Dining in Whistler is a vacation unto itself, and we suggest that you arrive hungry and prepared to dive into some of the best cuisine on the planet.
Now we may be biased, but we are also incredibly lucky to have the choices that we do. I’m not sure how it happened (I have a hunch that chefs flock here for the variety of daytime activities before their shifts start) but the Village is literally teeming with restaurants, cafes, bistros and bars.
If you’re coming over Christmas/New Years, spring break, or any major holiday week or weekend (Canadian or US), we suggest you book at least a few dinner reservations so that you don’t miss out. Some restaurants are booked months in advance for preferred seating times!

Celebrate West Coast Cuisine, featuring local foods showcased in a stunning setting, check out Araxi Restaurant + Bar, the Bearfoot Bistro or, our favourite, the Rimrock Cafe. All are likely to take a bite out of your wallet (mains are in the $40-$50+ range) but they will certainly give you a night to remember! Feeling extra adventurous? Explore the Bearfoot’s multi-million dollar wine cellar and sabre a bottle of champagne with Andre St.-Jean, who holds the World Record for most bottles of champagne sabered in a minute. Guaranteed you will never hear the story of Napolean heading into battle with more flair, followed by such a delicious beverage.
Italiano is laid out in a few options, from the casual open-kitchen atmosphere of La Trattoria di Umberto to the family-style options at Quattro (fresh pasta is made daily) to a romantic night at Il Caminetto di Umberto. Want to keep it super casual?
Sushi, sushi and more sushi… We love our sushi! Sachi Sushi, Sushi Village and Nagomi Sushi all offer the freshest, most creatively served raw and cooked options on the planet! Take advantage of being so close to the ocean people!
Speaking of creative, Elements Urban Tapas and Alta Bistro are well known for their rotating menus and innovative dishes, with Alta Bistro offering a wide range of wines served tasting-style thanks to state-of-the-art re-corking methods (ask them about going on a “Wine Oddysey”… although you may end up a bit tipsy in the end, you will certainly never forget that you once had a meal with wine perfectly paired with every…little…bite.) And although I haven’t personally been there, yet, I have to give a nod to the Red Door Bistro in Whistler Creekside because we are hearing some excellent reviews!
