I moved to Colorado in 1996 to finish college at Colorado State University. After earning my degree, I moved to Steamboat where I happily fell into the skiing lifestyle. During my time there, I started working for Black Tie co-founders Ian Prichard and Joe Sternberg at the start of their second year of operation.

When I first skied Mt. Crested Butte, I knew it was the place I wanted to put down roots. The Upper Gunnison Valley has access to endless open space, an interconnected and resilient community, and a culture of exploring all things weird and outdoors, including skiing, of course. In the fall of 2005 I was fortunate to open the doors to Black Tie here.

From day one, I’ve aimed to win over winter vacationers by providing a valuable and convenient service of delivering and fitting hand picked high quality equipment by dependable staff. Every year, I’m amazed with the caliber of staff Black Tie attracts and retains and I hope you recognize that when they visit your house, condo, or hotel room.
