Gear Spotlight – Blizzard
For their 2023/2024 skis, Blizzard has improved on some of their most popular models and continues to experiment with new materials and designs for a smoother ride. Here are some of our favorites!
The Blizzard Black Pearl 82 and 88 are two great options for female skiers from progressing intermediates to groomer-oriented experts. The 82 is a balanced ski with a smooth flex from tip to tail thanks to its flip-core construction that keeps it stiff without being too demanding, so both expert and intermediate skiers can enjoy it. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a forgiving ski that who performs great on groomers. The Black Pearl 88 is designed with soft snow in mind. Though not as nimble edge-to-edge as the 82, it makes up for it in stability and versatility that lets you carve tight turns on groomers and float in powder.
The new Blizzard Rustler 9 is an excellent ski for the strong intermediate to expert skier who wants versatility and stability without having to apply too much energy into their skis. Blizzard’s Carbon Flipcore DRT has a layer of Titanal over the binding platform that extends out towards the tip and tail in the center of the ski that adds extra power, without adding too much extra weight. Carbon Inserts in the tip and tail adds better floatation and maneuverability while eliminating tip chatter when you are tearing down a groomer at high speeds.
